The show, which opened today at the museum at the Palace of Fine Arts, includes over 350 works--an impressive third of the artist's oeuvre. Also included are manuscripts, photographs, and letters written by the artist, in addition to a collection of paintings that have never been publicly shown. The exhibition runs until August 19.
During the month of August, Frida's childhood home of Casa Azul (now the Frida Kahlo Museum), located in the Mexico City neighborhood of Coyoacan, will be exhibiting some 300 articles of the artist's clothing, as well as letters from Diego Rivera, the renowned muralist to whom Frida was married. Has anyone had experience with tours sponsored by www.tiastephanietours.com?

We just received an update from TIA Stephanie Tours. They still have some spots available for The Life and Legacy of Frida Kahlo tour in August and they've provided some further details:
"An entire collection of Frida Kahlo's wardrobe, among other personal items, was found at the Casa Azul, the home where Frida grew up (now the Frida Kahlo Museum). Anthropologist Marta Turok, an expert in indigenous textile traditions in Mexico, was called in to identify the regional source and time period of these pieces.
Marta will be joining our tour as a guest lecturer and guide as we review how these items were found, and most importantly how Frida was a walking showcase of Mexico's indigenous culture. Regional textile and clothing traditions play a vital role in cultural continuity and diversity!
Additionally, renowned art historians will join us on our tour of the Frida Kahlo Centennial Exhibit at the Palace of Fine arts, and on our tour to see some of the most significant murals in Mexico painted by Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros and Jose Clemente Orozco. Other events include: attending a performance of the Amalia Hernandez Ballet Folklorico, traveling to Puebla and a fun visit to the floating gardens of Xochimilco, formerly the chinampas gardens created by the Aztecs."
