Most people complain about the elevator or the ice machine being close to their room. Noise seldom bothers me, since I sleep very soundly. However, on one trip to Moorea, while we were staying in a beautiful over water bungalow, our neighbor took the prize. We had been to this lovely hotel before and were looking forward to the serenity of the place and snorkeling out the back of the hotel room. The couple next door, appeared to be fellow Americans, which was not that common at this particular resort. They looked like suburban, stock broker types, but played heavy metal incessantly on a large stereo system, which they had obviously transported. I can still recall the husband screaming over the music to his wife, "I say, my love, is that Aerosmith you are playing?"

A noisy night at the Hotel Andra in Seattle last weekend. A large wedding party had most of the rooms where we were placed. About 2:30am the wedding party came home from the bachelor party, and continued partying in the 2 adjacent rooms. But the best part is that several participants had to step out into the hallway in order to hear/speak into their cell phones!!!! How considerate of their co partiers?? What about us?? We told the hotel front desk the next am, but they just said, no problem, it was the wedding party. What about us??

Dear Steven,
Your story made me laugh! Of course, to win the prize--you'll need to submit your story to the website YourNoisyNeighbor.com to win.
Thanks for sharing it with us, though!

Hi, Gerry,
I'm so sorry to hear about that rotten experience. I had the same thing happen to me when I was at a hotel in May. Only in my case, I was on the floor below the rooftop reception room... When they came down to party in the halls, I nearly lost it out of exhaustion.
Thanks for sharing your story,

Not so funny when you need to sleep so you can be at your best for a three day convention. We complained several times to the management about a very noisy wedding party, even asking that our rooms be changed. The entire hotel was booked, so that didn't happen. the best we got was one free night. So now I ask in advance to be placed well away from any such revellers.

We were staying in a hotel in Steamboat Springs which had a snow board covention at the same time our senior citizen group was there. The snow board gals next to us were in and out of the room at all hours of the night, but one night they hit the door at about 2am with a group of friends. They were yelling for smokes on a no smoking floor, furniture was crashing, I was on the phone yelling at the front desk to send up the night manager. When Security finally showed up and it was a 300lb man and the kids were not quiet even when he was telling them to be quiet. He came about 3 times and then the front desk said that the police had been called. When the police came to the door one of the girls said "just a minute" next thing I heard was one of the boys asking if he could put his pants on. They had expect the fat fellow and what they got was the police and two boys opened the door naked except for ski googles and cowboy hats. Police arrested 12 people.
