We received the following email from Judy McFarland of Columbia, Mo.
Please let Kate Appleton know that she missed one Wacky Festival in Missouri, the Testicle Festival. I've attached a billboard picture from the festival, which happens in Olean, Mo.
Duly noted, Judy. We clicked these photos on Flickr to learn more. But you may be heartened to know that Budget Travel mentioned the Testicle Festival in its recent Road Trip: Eastern Kansas. [Update: A reader has reported on a second testicle festival. See comments below.]
You can see Judy's testicle festival photo...

And here is Kate Appleton's terrific roundup of Wacky Festivals.

Montana's Testicle Festival (www.testyfesty.com) just celebrated its 25th anniversary the first weekend in August. Not suitable for families, this is a wild weekend event at the Rock Creek Lodge, approximately 25 miles East of Missoula.

Hi, KB,
Thanks for this info. I was wondering about the family friendly aspect. Regards, Sean Blog editor

Sean,
Actually, though I haven't been to the Rock Creek Lodge's Testicle Festival myself, the news media do plenty of reporting during the event, which typically includes wet T-shirt contests, drinking to excess, motorcycles, camping, sometimes nudity, drug users, and general debauchery. It has even been written up in Playboy magazine.
So you probably don't want to recommend it to your readers, families or not. On the plus side, they do run shuttle buses from Missoula to reduce the number of sloshed drivers on the road.
