We're launching a new column for our magazine, Girlfriend Getaways, and we want to hear from you. Are you and your girlfriends celebrating a significant milestone, like reaching a big birthday, getting your kids off to college, launching a more-fulfilling second career, or surviving a divorce?
Tell us about the truly original things you've done—or plan to do—to mark such an occasion (beyond just a getaway). Perhaps it's a themed-based bash you threw or a once-in-a-lifetime dream that you finally indulged in, like renting a castle for the weekend.
The best story will be in the next issue of Girlfriend Getaways. Send a description of your celebration, including the date, the location, the participants, and funny highlights, to Letters@BudgetTravel.com. Throw in a photo or two if you have 'em handy!
RELATED: Looking for some inspiration? Highlights from our recent issue of Girlfriend Getaways include 11 Women-Only Ways to Try Something New and How to Host Your Own Wine Tasting Party.

I travel along with three (3) other ladies once a year. We have not gone back to the same location as of now, we have been abroad and have done the states. When we first started, it was a long weekend and has grown (since our children have also) to now a week or more. In the US we can get one room and the four of us share the cost of the room and car rental. We pool our funds and I take care of paying for our expenses. It has been working great for us. Just back from Ireland and in 08 we will do the parks in the US. In 09, hopefully Australia.

My 2 girlfriends and I like to travel and explore historical homes. We have been to the Natchez, MS home pilgrimage and to Laura Ingalls Wilder homes in Kansas and South Dakota. We spice the trips up by dressing up in era clothing. We were Southern Belle's in Natchez and Laura Ingalls in Kansas and South Dakota! Next trip is to the Biltmore. Then hopefully I can persuade them to vacation at a resort on the beach!

The five of us have known eachother now for over ten years now. We met through Girl Scouts. At one time we met weekly to watch the show ER together. We meet once a month now, we go to dinner for each of our birthdays, and we get togheter for Christmas and go out to dinner. We have done this for over ten years. We also try to fit in a girls getaway, last year we went to Williamsburg VA and used one of our girls time shares. We are at this time looking on planning one for this year. We have seen nine of our children graduate, one has graduated from college, one is in the Navy. We have another graduating this year, and two will graduate next year and at that time we will have all of them out of High School. One of us has a "big birthday" this year # 50. We are planning a party for her.

I have two girlfriends from college who live in New England (one a history major, the other an English lit major like myself). Since I live in Georgia, we met half way at a "Booklovers B and B" on the Eastern Shore of Maryland for a girls getaway weekend. We spent magical evenings in their spacious Jane Austen suite talking about all things Austen, playing the Pride and Prejudice game, and reminiscing about college days. Days were spent walking with the ponies along the Assateague shore. The following year, we met in Charlottesville Virginia and did the Monticello tour two days in a row, immersing ourselves in Jefferson lore.

Three of us who are nurses for the Red Cross in Southeastern Michigan region, decided to do a Girls Weekend to Pawley's Island, South Carolina. We spent 5 days just sunning, swimming in the ocean, having a coctail on the porch facing the ocean and enjoying all of that southern hospitality. We even took a day trip to Charleston and went on a ghost tour. This year, we're going to do a wine tour or go to Canada for a another glorious few days.

I was looking for a different kind of girls getaway, one that wasn't just a buff and puff like I have had at so many spas... I wanted something that helped me to connect again to my joy and to make my body feel good as well! I couldn't find what I was looking for so I just created what I had wanted. Now I facilitate spa getaways where you learn about inner peace from horses and it's for women that want more out of life. I want to spread the word and the joy. So here's to women finding their perfect place to rejuvenate the soul! It's different for everyone but it is out there!
