My New Year's Travel Resolution for '08 (what a great idea, btw!) is to go to Seattle (with hubby and preschooler) to drink lots of coffee, visit Pike's Market, take in the mountain views, and soak in the thoroughly not east-coast vibe...Let me know if you have any ideas. I will buy a book, of course, and have scanned Web sites. But I'm really excited about the CAFES!

My 2008 New Year's travel resolution is to take part in a work/study holiday either in the Galapagos Islands, or the The Azores in Portugal. This year, I did quite a bit of sight-seeing travel to European cities because my boyfriend had never seen Europe. 2008 will be about exploring undeveloped territories and seeking adventure. I have already booked a trip to Banff to snowshoe hike and perhaps get in some snowboarding. I would also love to sea kayak in whale territory in Alaska.

I have been dying to get to St. Petersburg, Russia. This trip will obviously be saved for the summer, seeing as I'd like to avoid losing any fingers/toes, facial features due to frostbite. But the history there is so intense and intriguing that it tops my list of travel destinations for 2008!

My resolution is to overcome my fear of spiders so that I can finally take some of my dream trips to places like Peru and Australia without being paranoid the whole time. Would love to see these places, but have always been afraid of encountering those dinner plate sized spiders you hear about.

In 2008, I will be welcoming a new baby to my family. Most of the travel will revolve around visiting family on both coasts. However, we plan to make Thanksgiving 2008 a special occasion. We will be traveling to Newport, Rhode Island to meet up with Grandma, Papa and Uncle Joseph for a seafood feast. We are looking forward to having some time exploring the town while the relatives coo at our little one!

My New Year's Resolution is to take a couple days of down-time at the end of my work trips to do something fun. I have been hesitant to do this b/c it means more days away from the family. I am going to Bishkek in January and will plan to take an extra day in Istanbul on the way back. Then in March, going to Cairo and hope to go to the Red Sea to chill out over a weekend.

Over the past 2 years I've dipped my toes into the pool of international travel with trips to Ireland, Koln Germany, Paris France, and Venice and Florence Italy. My goal for 2008 is to go someplace that gives me some culture shock and tears down my comfort zones. I believe that I'm ready for something more exotic and adventurous. A wildlife biologist friend of mine is going to be doing a work study program in Ecuador and as she finishes that up I'm considering joining her in Quito for a couple of days, and then going out to the Galopogos Islands.
If that doesnt happen, my other considerations are Hong Kong, Vietnam, Morocco, Thailand, or India.

My goal is to spend a few weeks in San Diego, where I lived 20+ years ago. I want to explore senior living possibilities with the thought of relocating or at least spending a good chunk of my remaining years in this lovely city.

Last year I made a solemn vow to get out of the country at LEAST once per year-- last year was Scotland, the United Arab Emirates and Oman; next year Ireland, Vietnam and Laos. You learn so much about yourself when you go off on an adventure, and the distance puts your life into perspective on your return. Hooray for traveling and YES I'm a travel junkie!

Resolution for this coming year...

2008 we Navigate!

Crusing to continents and cities we dream about.

This year I plan to focus my attention on my home state and country. I've found in my travel experiences that the people I meet want suggestions on what they should see and do in the U.S. and my home state of Texas. Sometimes we get so caught up in the exciting travels we have abroad that we forget what adventures await us in our own backyard.

My 2008 travel resolution is no airplane travel; all of our trips will be via car. It's not going to be easy, as I am constantly reading about travel and finding good deals, but we are saving up for a five-year anniversary trip to French Polynesia in spring 2009. Besides, I had three flying vacations in 2007!

My 2008 travel resolution is to travel to Italy for my honeymoon. I've been there a few times already, and it is hands down my favorite country (out of those I have visited thus far). I'm very excited to experience the beauty and wonderful chaos of Italy with my husband. :)

My resolution is to fly less for work, and to make time to explore when I do. As a consultant, I travel more weeks than not. I want to encourage our customers to consider more online meetings and conference calls, and make the face-to-face meetings really matter.

For personal travel, I resolve to fly somewhere warm at least twice with my husband, and to leave the laptop at home.
