Instead, the problem is that the lithium batteries can overheat and ignite under certain conditions and the fire systems on plane cargo holds are not designed to stop the fires. Passengers can still check baggage with lithium batteries if they are installed in electronic devices, such as cameras, cell phones, and laptop computers.
