Disney Cruise Line is slapping on a fee for fuel costs, says the Orlando Sentinel's tourism blog.
It was the only major cruise line that hadn't already adopted a fuel surcharge. It will not follow the others in charging even those guests who have already booked, a policy we've complained about before and that is being investigated by Florida's state attorney general.
Per the Sentinel:
Disney Cruise Lines will charge the first two passengers in a stateroom $8 a person per day up to a maximum of $112 per person per vacation. It will charge any remaining passengers in a cabin $3 a person per day up to a maximum of $42 per person. It will begin levying the fuel surcharge on any new bookings made on or after May 28.

Might as well, everyone else is jacking up prices to cover the cost of fuel. However keep in mind, people are not getting raises to keep up with both the failing dollar and the market increase on all products.

Only a matter of time when individuals reduce their travel plans because of costs. With reduced revenue it will be sad to see some of our favorite airlines go out opf business. Worse yet, the Cruise lines will be next especially with all the "Mega" shipe coming on line. What is mor than pitiful is that our Government has known for a very long time about this problem & how many times have we heard "We can not be dependent on foreign oil" Thank's to ALL of our politicians we are still on square #1.

If a cruise line tacks on a fuel surcharge then they shouldn't expect you to pay the extra gratuities to the staff...which is really not fair because most of them work hard, then again the surcharge isn't fair either...oh, well!

Yep, I'm going to be very tight on the tips while on board my cruise...Im charging a passenger surcharge which means Im only tipping extremely good service. Normally they give you an envelope for any and everyone who is assigned to you when on board, even those who don't deserve a tip. Im only tipping the person who serves me and cleans my room!

I notice with fuel prices going down the surcharge is still there. My servers will have to get theirs from my unfair surcharge!
