Lil' Frankies, a Neapolitan wood burning oven pizza and pasta restaurant is a wonderful place because the food is healthy, fresh and beautifully prepared, the staff is smart and creative, there are three dining rooms, each with a different character, they have a good bar and a wine list that goes well with the food. And to make matters better, there's a backyard garden. The food tastes expensive, but the prices are not high. They have long opening hours to fit all kinds of lifestyles, and the location is very convenient to public transportation. It's a very authentic place. Go now.
The restaurant is in Manhattan. See http://www.lilfrankies.com/

Patty's Restaurant in Grand Rivers, Kentucky. They feature a 2" pork chop grilled with their secret seasoning that is to die for. And not to mention the wonderful homemade "pot bread" baked in flower pots and served with strawberry butter, or their mile high meringue pies. It is my favorite restaurant in the world, and I don't even live in Kentucky!

Alaska: Orso - a wonderful Italian seafood restaurant in the heart of downtown Anchorage. Superb service and ambiance, good wine cellar.
This is just one of several really outstanding restaurants in downtown Anchorage: The Corsair, Sullivans, Sacks - and the Irish pub, McGinleys.
Hawaii: Keoki's in Poipu Village on Kaua'i. Always a line out the door, they serve fresh seafood in a variety of styles and all with great panache. Good drinks, excellent service.
At the other end of the spectrum, try Ono on Rice Street in Lihue. It serves great popular Hawaiian food and plate lunches into the wee hours of the morning for a reasonable price - some might call it a dive, but they moved to the new Rice Street location about 18 months ago, so it's not as "divey" as it once was.

I would add Roast & Toast in Petoskey, Michigan to the list. A locally owned and operated cafe and coffee house, they have 4 homemade soups every day and a menu of sandwiches and salads that are so good! There is an eclectic feel to the place that is a hang out for everyone from young teens to the young at heart crowd. They roast their own coffee and have 5! different blends brewed every day. The choices are wonderful--it is a true local hangout.

The Derby, in Arcadia, California
New owners have kept this old-time restaurant authentic. It is named after horse-racing, not a hat, and should not be confused with The Brown Derby of Hollywood.
This place was opened by the mid-20th century jockey George Woolf and all owners have maintained his collection of racetrack memorabilia, associated mainly with nearby Santa Anita Racetrack. In fact, part of the collection was used in the movie SEABISCUIT. Cases and walls display these items to great effect.
The Derby is a chophouse primarily, and excels in prime cuts of well-prepared meat. Certain house specialties are Brascholi and the Derby Deluxe. The best dessert is the Almond Cookie Cup, consisting of a crisp cookie basket filled with rich vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, fresh berries, fruit sauce and sliced nuts. Yum!

Pamelas of Pittsburgh, PA offers fantastic breakfasts with the best crepe-like pancakes in the entire world. They also have generous portions of corned beef hash served with an egg on top. Coffee is average.
3 locations in Pittsburgh in Oakland, Shadyside, and Squirrel Hill near the universities (Carnegie Mellon and Pitt). Prices are reasonable because they cater to the student crowd.

Since 1970, I have visited Captain Jack's in Sunset Beach, CA, and I go there every time I'm in SOCAL. It was and perhaps still is a family-operated restaurant, and you could literally watch the kids grow up into more responsible positions. The quality of everything is excellent, but lately, it's become pricey along with everything else of quality. We find that we can make a meal of an order apiece of the best escargot I've had anywhere, including Paris, along with their included garlic bread and a glass of wine. The ambience is also wonderful, situated away from the beach but on a canal.

Our favorite Mexican restaurant is FIESTA AZTECA, 7534 Raytown Road, Raytown, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City, 816-737-0772, open for lunch and supper. The owner/waiter and his staff (mostly family) hail from Jalisco. You know you are getting authentic Mexican fare. It is mouth-wateringly delicious! Try the big burrito - if you can eat the whole thing in one sitting, you'll win a T-shirt. Closed Sundays.
According to kcdrinker.com, Fiesta Azteca is not a bar per se, but a great place for some authentic Mexican food and the most kick-a** margaritas in town. And by kick a**, I mean these delicious concoctions sneak up behind you, tap you politely on the shoulder, then belt you flat on your a** with the fastest, wickedest drunk you'll ever experience. Now, doesn't that sound fun? If you can brave the wilds of Raytown (not that you would do so on purpose), visit our friends at Azteca.

For a unique and excellent dining experience, try Jonesy's Steak House which is the airport restaurant at Napa County Airport in CA. I began going there as aircrew laying over at Travis AFB nearby in 1970. We would rent a car and make the pleasant 25-mile drive over there. Steaks are the specialty, of course, and they raise and butcher their own meat. It used to be and perhaps still is a family operation with family members seating and serving. The steaks are generous and are cooked on a dry grill under smooth river stones, along with their trademark hashbrowns. The large filet with a slab of fat attached to lubricate it, along with the hashbrowns and the house salad, are unlike anything you've ever had. You can't beat the place for consistency of their product. People fly in there all the time, park outside, come in and eat, and fly out again. It's located near the intersection of CA 12W and 29. The prices are right, and it's the only place I trust outside of the big high-priced steak emporia, and myself, to cook a steak.

Our favorite local resturant is Frenchys' Cafe..there are actually 4 Frenchys' now on Clearwater Beach in Florida. The owner has his own fleet of deep sea fishing boats, so, if you want the fresh catch of the day or the best grouper sandwich around...or just a burger or salad..it's the place to be. Each Cafe is unique in style and a bit different in the menu choices too, but, you can't go wrong if you head for any of the Frenchys' Cafes for lunch or dinner.

Masala Bowl is a quick service Indian restaurant in Southern California that could be wonderful addition to the list of favorite restaurants for the main stream population to try a variety of Indian foods with price range from 99cents to less than $20.00. Service is wonderful and food is great. A must try for some one who is adventurous with tastes.

For the diner-minded in Anchorage, three institutions I like are the White Spot, a lunch counter with killer burgers. The halibut sandwich is the best--deep fried, panko-coated, Alaska speciality. Always crowded from blue collar to former governors.
The Lucky Wishbone serves fresh pan-fried chicken: junior, mom and the pop. The chicken is never frozen. The jumbo cheeseburger comes with a bun soft as the skin on a baby's wrist. Fries come in a plastic basket. And it's a rare day you won't see a gaggle of cops downing some burgers and chicken. And it's a family oriented business: kids welcome.
The Arctic Roadrunner, another longtime Anchorage food destination, offers great specialty burgers like the Kodiak, my favorite. Green chili on top with an onion ring and slice of bologna. Get extra napkins. The home made onion rings will make you cry. The south Anchorage restaurant features a great view of Campbell Creek. You can eat outside next to the creek in the summer.

Prejean's Restaurant is set in north Lafayette, the heart of French Louisiana.
Where most restaurants have a signature dish, there is nothing on there menu
that could not a signature dish. For great Cajun food and relaxing atmosphere
you can't beat Prejean's and the price is not bad either. A band most nights."Big Al," the fourteen foot alligator once a native of the Louisiana’s Grand Chenier swamp, sits in the middle of the dining room. Great food,Great Music and Big Al.

"Bertrand's" in Erie, Pennsylvania is a real treat! I grew up in the area, but left many years ago (before I became a real "foodie!"). On a recent visit, my husband and I set out to find some fine dining restaurants at "home." Bertrand's is French cooking at it's finest (with Chef who is actually from France!) and the Sunday Brunch is phenomenal! We also had a wonderful dinner at "1201."

Fiddler's Hearth in downtown South Bend, IN is as close to an authentic Celtic pub as any I've visited, here or overseas. Never mind the lovely decor, live music, Irish step dancers and Guiness on tap - the traditional-style food will give you a taste of the Emerald Isle like none other. It is definitely a must-see if you're visiting town - and even worth the drive if you're not.

Casa Vieja in Greenville, Texas features gourmet Mexican food. Really. While you can get Tex Mex if you want it, the menu here is really a cut above the usual Mexican eatery fare. The owner/chef chose to retreat here when he got tired of cooking at The Mansion in Dallas. Don't miss the mango & shrimp quesadillas.

Two great San Francisco, CA restaurants are:
1. B44 at 44 Belden Place (pedestrian walkway about 1 block from the Lion's Gate entrance to China Town). B44 has the ultimate sidewalk (European Style) dining (made possible in cool San Francisco with wise use of heat lamps!) Serves fabulous Spanish (Catalan) food - both tapas (small plate) and full-sized portions. It also has delicious paellas.
NOTE: BELDEN WAY HAS SEVERAL GREAT RESTAURANTS, BUT WE ALWAYS GRAVITATE BACK TO B44.
2. Slanted Door in the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero. Fantastic view of the Bay as well as delicious food (Asian - Thai). Can't ever decide wheter to look at the lovely restaurant, the lovely view, or the lovely food!

Stroud's in Kansas City
The best fried chicken and garlic butter pork chops ever! Their mashed potatoes smothered in gravy are heaven, their ham studded green beans are better than Grandma's, and the dinner salad with italian and blue cheese chunks is sure to satisfy. If you aren't a salad fan, the chicken noodle soup is wonderful (I don't eat it much though because then I don't have room for the rest of dinner). They top it all off with deep fried cinnamon rolls. If you can't finish off the rolls, take them home and heat them in a pan with a little butter for a decadent breakfast. They have 2 locations - North Kansas City MO, and Fairway KS (about 2 miles from the famous Plaza in Kansas City MO). I also reccomend ordering one (per person) of the fried shrimp as an appetizer - they are the biggest shrimp you have ever seen, and boy are they tasty!

My husband has been going to the Pine Club in Dayton for close to 40 years! If you want the BEST filet you must go to the Pine Club. Its decor hasn't changed in all the years we've been going nor can you get reservations. You just have to wait to get a table. None of those pagers or loud speakers to call your name either. They come right up and find you! (don't ask me how?) Don't go for the salads but you'll LOVE the steaks and yummy salt sticks.

Sunny Italy Cafe (known to old timers as Rosie's), in South Bend, IN, is an old, neighborhood-style Italian place, right down to the vinyl checkerboard tablecloths and plastic greenery; but those are the only things about it that are. The atmosphere is like going to Mom's house, and the food is incredible. On Notre Dame football weekends the place is packed, with a line out the door. It has been there since before my parents went there on dates, in the 40s. It changed hands in the meantime, but Rosie's daughter bought it back and operates it as a labor of love, with the original recipes.
Also, in northern CA there is a chain called the Black Bear Diner. When we go annually to a camp in Etna, we stop on the way, normally in Yreka, but also at the original in Mt. Shasta. Themed around the namesake and blackberry based items (pancakes, shakes & cobbler), it is a treasured part of our family's visits. At peak times the wait can be long, but it's always worth it, especially in blackberry season. While it's good any time (think shakes & cobbler), breakfast is what we find most memorable.

The lunch specials are great and really reasonably priced. They also are well know for their prime rib, steaks, and pork chops. But their tenderloin sandwiches (big enough for two)and onion rings are the best. In the Washington DC area: Ben's Chili Bowl, Hard Times Cafe, Jaleo, TenPenh, Vidalia; Hong Que or any of the others at the Eden Center (Arlington); the 81st (? I never get the number correct) Aero Squadron Restaurant at the College Park airfield. Fortune (Falls Church) or Hollywood East (Wheaton) for dim sum. Any pho place (some better than others but can't go wrong in any), or the most popular of the pupuseria trucks that line soccer fields and parks throughout Montgomery County and Prince George's County (MD).
In the Wildwoods, NJ - Claude's for AUTHENTIC French.
Newport, RI - The Black Pearl, Salvation Cafe, Newport Blues Cafe (check their concert schedule), Tucker's Bistro, Sardello's, Newport Playhouse (buffet with show), Flo's (clam shack), also in Tiverton on the road to Sakonnet, there is a to die for clam shack, but I don't know the name.

Looks like South Carolina was left out. For those coming through Florence you don't want to miss the Old Europe Mediterranean Grill with its Petite di Pollo al Pepe chicken breast, pan fried, served with Sonny's homemade Gorgonzola cheese sauce. Comes with a homemade salad and you must try either his Whiskey or ranch dressing -- you'll want to lick the bowl! Everything is fresh and made from scratch. We get this every time we go!
Also famous in this small town about halfway down the 95 fwy is Redbone Alley. Don't miss the Bermuda Triangles appetizer, Low Country Shrimp & Grits, or the Flat Iron Steak (my favorite). The ambiance is walking inside and finding yourself on a "Charleston street," like Rainbow Row. It reaches up 2 stories where you see birds in the windows. We love to take visitors there.

We frequent a small family restaurant in Huntsville, AL. Saturday mornings at "Rolo's" on Airport Road is usually very busy with alot of regulars and new faces. Breakfast is inexpensive and boasts such southern favorites as country ham with red-eye gravy, bisquits and grits. Most entrees are less than $6.00 for breakfast and evening meals are home-cooked with specialties such as fried chicken or pot roast for under $7.00. It reminds me of "Cheers" when my whole family comes in and "everybody knows our names."

NEAR CLEVELAND -- You've got to try Bubba's Q, 820 Center Road (Rte. 83), in Avon, OH 44011. One of the best barbecue places I've ever been to. If you like ribs, go for the "D-Boned" and you can't miss. (The other ribs are sometimes a little off, depending upon the chef that day.) The pulled pork is also amazing, and the best sides are mac & cheese, baked beans (with cinnamon), green beans, and sweet potato fries. Al "Bubba" Baker (the former NFL player) runs the place and is often out chatting with the patrons. We love the atmosphere -- the wait staff is super-friendly and effective, and we love to hear Bubba tell a good story. Catch them also at Taste of Cleveland, when Bubba himself is on the grill. Sooooo yummy!

Their meals are delicious and large enough that the leftovers you take home with you are a meal too. This is real authentic Italian food without going to Italy.

Definitely R. Thomas in Atlanta! As a conscious eater prone to bouts of veganism, it's one of the most unique and satisfying dining experiences I've ever had. Creative menu full of options for any diet (yes, there are burgers and chicken on the menu alongside the sprouted quinoa and tofu), all healthy, organic, socially-conscious. And delicious - my husband and I eat there every time we visit his family in Atlanta. And be sure to try the juices or specialty drinks! All of the seating is "outdoors" in a tent filled with colorful kitsch and Mr. Thomas's own menagerie of beautiful exotic birds. Speaking of the owner, he's usually there, and if you have kids he'll often let them touch and even hold the birds!

One of my all-time favorites is CanCan Brasserie in Richmond, VA. This fabulous French bistro excels not only in its extensive wine and beer selections, but also in fresh, creative menu items, outstanding service, and decor that will make you think you're in Paris. They offer wine and beer pairing dinners monthly and even have private rooms for special events. Located in Carytown, in the heart of Richmond, VA, you can stroll along this chic urban shopping area after your meal to walk off some of those "so-worth-it" calories!

A suggestion from Kansas--The Brookville Hotel, located just outside Abilene, Kansas, serves family style fried chicken, mashed potatoes, cream corn, cole slaw (made with whipping cream--best I've ever tasted),home-made biscuits--all from old family recipes. Nearby is the Eisenhower Presidential Library, so it is a nice day trip from Kansas City or Wichita or a good place to stop if traveling on I-70.

If in Sacramento, CA, I highly recommend Cafe Marika (Lunch M-F, Dinner Th,Fr,Sa) for great Hungarian food at a great price. Easy to find at 2011 J St. Eva and Louie are wonderful as well.

Our favorite resturant is 'Leagal Seaafood' in Tysons Corner, VA. Their food is always fresh and delicions (i.e. their sword fish steak with red onion jam). The cranberry bog martinis are fabulous and the service is always wonderful. And, if you, like my wife, are gluton intolerent (Celiac) they treat you with the utmost care providing both drinks and dinner that are completely gluton free and not a chance of cross contamination. Just tell the person waiting you table that you're Celiac and they will take it from there.

You should include Bertha's in Baltimore's historic Fells Point. Bertha's has been a tradition on The Point since the 1960s serving their famous mussels and other fresh seafood. Bertha's is a quaint Irish Pub with a great selection of beer, ale and cider on tap, some of it "pulled" in the old country tradition. The only advertising ever done is the green bumper sticker, "Eat Bertha's Mussels," which has been seen on cars all over the world. Although I live in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, I am often "beeped" at in recognition.

Florida--Mims. Corky Belle's on Route 1 between Titusville and Cocoa offers generous portions of Florida seafood in a country setting--but be prepared to wait in line if you're coming at lunchtime. Fried oysters for lunch include about a dozen and a half oysters for $7.95, always cooked just perfectly. The restaurant is always a local favorite. Worth getting off I-95 for!

I would definitely recommend Fig & Olive in New York. This restaurant has three locations in NYC and offers exquisite mediterranean cuisine. All their dishes are made with olive oil from France, Italy and Spain so their menu is very healthy. I usually go there with my friends and we share cheese plates, 'charcuterie' and crostinis. Their downtown location is in the Meatpacking district and they have just opened a third venue right off of Fifth Avenue on 52nd street. Definitely a place you should stop by when you come to New York!

One of the best places in Northern Virginia is the Sweetwater Tavern. It is one of the best and busiest restaurants here. The food is great and the Cosmos' are the best around. No reservationa though, they are really busy, and the bar is especially on Friday nights, but the food and the service is well worth the wait. A must on anyone's list to eat at.

In Baltimore, there's a stall in the Cross Street Maket called Smoke that makes the best barbeque around. Everything is made in house incuding all the side dishes, rubs, and sauces. It's all delicious and a great value!
Posted By Paula Szczepaanek on June 2, 2008, 2:35 PM
Jack's Stack in KC, MO has the best BBQ around. The wait on a Friday or Saturday night is proof! KC has plenty of runnerup BBQ restaurants! Other favorites of mine are Haywards in Overland Park, KS & Summity Hickory Pit in Lee's Summit.

Brick 29 Bistro in Nampa, ID is a fabulous place in the basement of the former Masonic Lodge. Simple decor and a small menu with the basics. I've eaten several entrees and all were wonderful. Service is friendly and helpful. Prices are moderate.

When in Maine, eat like the locals do. Head down to the Rockland Cafe in downtown Rockland for all you can eat fish and chips for about $10. Not to be missed are the "fish cakes," crispy, golden mashed potato "cakes" with chunks of fish and a bit of onion. But order early because once they run out for the day, they are out.

The Apple Pan in West Los Angeles. It is a real Norman Rocwell structure inside ,with it's 40's cash registers and no frills counter. They have the best hamburgers in Southern Ca.Their pies are from original family recipes dating back to the 19th century. They have the fastest waiters anywhere and the crowds are a perfect example of the cultural mosaic of this great city

DALLAS: Keller's Drive-in for the #5 burger and tater tots. Plus roller-skating ex-con carhops.
El Fenix for tex-mex, any location.
Sonny Bryan's for BBQ.
HOUSTON: Goode Co. for BBQ (across the street from the seafood Goode Co. mentioned earlier)
AUSTIN: Salt Lick or The Iron Works for BBQ. Matt's El Rancho for Tex Mex.
BRENHAM, TX: Ice cream at the Blue Belle Creamery.
SCOTTSDALE AZ: BluBurger for kobe beef burger--best I ever had!
Happy eating!

T-Bonz in Augusta, Ga.
I love a good restaurant quality steak and was told it could be found at T-Bonz. On my first visit there, I was not quite hungry enough for a big steak so I opted for their "double-stack" meatloaf.
OMG!!! It was by far the best meatloaf I have ever eaten, placed over mashed potatoes with a wonderful mushroom gravy and then topped with onion straws. The manager told me they use off cuts of strip, sirloin, and filet to make it.
I've been there 3 times and still haven't ordered a steak..
And as a sidenote, their she-crab soup is better than any I have had in the Baltimore/DC area.

Two of our favorites in Houston are Cafe Red Onion and Goode Company Seafood. Both restaurants offer reasonably priced food of consistently high quality. We love the pineapply salsa and seafood enchiladas at Cafe Red Onion. We'll drive many miles--even at today's gas prices--for Goode Company's Campechana extra, crab gumbo, and the fried shrimp/mesquite grilled shrimp combo with shrimp empanada.

I can't believe you guys in Anchorage haven't mentioned the Hacienda Mexican! Awesome food! The Millennium Alaskan Hotel has a great Sunday Brunch...and the Crow's Nest in the Captain Cook has some awesome food AND if the same bartender is there from the summer of 2006...well you can't beat some of his creative drinks! If you don't mind a ride down to Girdwood...The Double Musky Inn is the place to be.

Some Favorites in ARIZONA.....
Havana Cafe-Best Cuban/Caribbean/South American/Central American food in Arizona-The Pollo Cubano is unbelieveable as well as the San Juan Combination Platter. For desert the coconut flan with mango sauce is unbelieveable.
The Landmark Restaurant-The Salad Bar is amazing-tons and tons of food, for desert you must try either the pecan pie or the bread pudding-both excellent!!
Blu Burger Grille-The best burgers in Arizona and the sweet potato fries are amazing!!

Gertrude's in the Baltimore Museum of Art is my favorite restaurant for crabcakes, followed by Pete's for breakfast and Miss Shirley's for breakfast and lunch. The Ambassador has the greatest Sunday Brunch in a beautiful garden setting, right off the campus of JHU. Oh, and you don't want to miss Carma's Cafe for the best mufalatta this side of New Orleans!

You're in Milwaukee, and you're on South Howell gassing up your rental car before flying out of Mitchell Field. You pass an unassuming restaurant in a building that looks like it used to be an Embers at one time, with a name (Jalapeno Loco) that should be a red flag NOT to eat there. But because this is a recommendation, you try it out...you notice all the awards on the wall as you walk in. The inside is nothing special, but then you see the menu...authentic Oaxacan...different moles, pumpkin soup, machego cheese melted with a lime cilantro topping, corn mold..there are things I've never heard of before. This is the real deal, I don't eat on the plane so I can go straight there. 5067 South Howell, (414)483-8300.

$$$-- But if you enjoy very good food, you should really try Binions steak house in Whiting Indiana. It's in a ship resting at port in Lake Michigan. Right at the state line.

If you're on I-70 on your way to/from Baltimore or Washington, DC, take a detour in Hagerstown, MD. Get off on US Route 40 and go on South Potomac (one-way south) from there. The Schmankerl Stube is a fantastic restaurant for German CUISINE; yes, cuisine! The best German food this side of Germany with some German beers on tap and others bottled. You can get a small, a one-liter or a gigantic mug of beer but since you're going to eat, it won't be bad if you take it easy. And the owner will almost always be there to great you. Try it and you'll be back! I think it closes down between 2 and 4:30 weekdays and is closed Mondays.

In downtown Los Angeles, one would be remiss in not recommending the original Phillipe's! Sawdust on the floor; double-dip sandwiches with some great cole slaw and potato salad....simple, great food at very low prices....Usually Angelenos don't tell outsiders about it....Enjoy!

Recently spent 5 days at the Wagon Trail Resort on Rowley's Bay in Door County, Wisconsin. The cinnamon rolls and sticky pecan rolls on the breakfast buffet are the BEST I've ever sunk a tooth into. For lunch and dinner there is always chile and 3 other kinds of homemade soup along with the salads and entrees.
The rolls and other delicious desserts & baked goods are also available at Grandma's Bakery at the resort. Everything is "made from scrach".

The Helmand in downtown Baltimore is a must visit. Delicious, reasonably priced and very pleasant, this Afghani restaurant is owned by the brother of Hamid Karzai, the president of Afghanistan.

New York City - Junior's in Brooklyn at the corner of Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues. A long standing special restaurant with delicious, well priced food and the best NYC style cheesecake in the world! You can get this delicious cheesecake delivered anywhere in the world. When I go back home to upstate New York, Junior's is one of my last stops before leaving town so I can stock up on cheesecakes for friends who don't get to NYC! They freeze them perfectly so that when defrosted there is no lose of flavor or texture! NOT for those on a diet. But, what the heck, for the cheesecake forget the diet for the visit!

Ever visit a sleepy little town in Northeastern PA by the name of Bloomsburg, you would be doing yourself a favor to visit Russell's Restaurant. It has recently changed ownership, but the previous owners were the best, and really set it up to be the best. Amazing food, made by an even more amazing chef, you can't go wrong. Bistro menu, dinner menu, several pages long, it will be hard to not suit your palate!

This is a rather nice selection of restaurants but it would have been really cool if maybe a website and detailed info were included such as address and phone numbers, maybe hours of operation and menu (if possible) so that we could check out these amazing restaurants - if we were in the area. Thanks

If you ask us there are two restaurants in Fountain Hills, AZ. (a suburb on the NE corner of the Phoenix Metro area), Phils (Fountain Hills Blvd on the extreme North end), and Que Bueno (LaMontanta between Avenue of the Fountains and Palisades.) Both serve excellent food at down to earth prices. Phils is especially popular with locals who like American and Que Bueno serves award winning salsa. (Their other Mexican food is very good too.)

If you are headed towards the University of Connecticut main campus in Storrs, Willington Pizza is a wonderful place for pizza. My favorite is the Red Potato Pizza which is a non-tomato sauce based pizza topped with bacon, broccoli, cheddar, red potatoes, and sauced with sour cream. They also serve pasta dinners, calzones, and sandwiches. Reasonably priced with great food. It's always crowded, for obvious reasons.

If you in Colorado and love Mexican food. Do try Amanda's Fonda, busiest and best Mexican food restaurant in Colorado Springs. For really good Mexican food and down-to-earth prices, stop at Santiago's in Castle Rock, Brighton, or Ft. Lupton if you can find a seat.

Magee, NY. This is the place to go if you're in the area just off the New York Thruway, exit 41. It's small but the plates are big. Friendly people making genuine home made foods that will satisfy any taste.
Magee Family Restaurant: That's a place to brag about.
