London finally has its version of the urban summer beaches found in Paris through late August: City Seaside debuted this past weekend at the foot of the London Eye (which, as you probably know, is a giant Ferris wheel--more or less.)
Though it doesn't actually have any sand, City Seaside offers deck chairs, giant games of Connect 4, quoits (a British lawn game similar to horseshoes), and Jenga, plus a beach "peep board" for photo ops along the edge of the Thames.
Troupes of street performers are scheduled to entertain the crowds on Saturdays. Marvelously, it's all free!
The only things that aren't free are the on-site "beach" stands selling ice cream and lemonade in addition to tasting flights of the classic fruity concoction, Pimm's (which'll cost you a whopping $56). City Seaside will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until August 25. For more info, visit londoneye.com.

Would love to see a photo of the "beach"
