A nifty deal on ski passes
Posted by: Beth Collins, Tuesday, Sep 9, 2008, 9:01 AM

As I write this, it's hot and muggy outside, so skiing is pretty much the last thing on my mind. I just learned, though, about a cool season pass offered by Vail Resorts. It's called the Epic Season Pass, and it gets you in all season at any of the company's resorts (Vail, Beaver Creek, Keystone, and Breckenridge in Colorado, and Heavenly in Lake Tahoe).

Unlike lots of season passes, it doesn't have any blackout dates, which is nice if you're planning a holiday trip. Also, it costs $579, which is about $1,000 less than what the unlimited, unrestricted pass cost last year.

With one-day lift tickets climbing ever closer to $100 (last year a one-day pass at Vail was $92), you'd only have to ski for a total of a week to make this pass worthwhile. I'm not a sales-pitch-y kind of girl, but I have to say, this sounds like a pretty great deal.

The only problem with the Epic Ski Pass is that you have to buy it in person, either in a couple of stores in Denver or Boulder. That makes it hard for the out-of-state traveler. If you've had a pass in the past, however, you can renew online.
It is a really great deal!!!
My friend and I just moved to Colorado, and we bought our ski pass the first day it went on sale!! Can't wait for that snow to fall. If you don't want to spend $579, there's also the Colorado Pass, which is only $449, and includes unlimited skiing at Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin, as well as 10 days at Vail and Beaver Creek.

This is not true. You can also purchase the Epic Pass online at www.epicpass.com!

Oopps..sorry, you're right, Aimi! They must have just initiated that, as of last week, you could only buy them in person!!
Well, then, perfect for the out-of-state traveler!! Get buying :)
and guess what, there was snow today in Vail and Breckenridge!!

Does anyone know of any other passes for CO? I will only be skiing 4 or 5 days at Keystone, Copper, Breckenridge, A-Basin and maybe Vail.
I won't be able to buy the tix in person before the trip.

I bought my tickets for Copper at Walmart in Frisco which you can reach on the free bus from Copper. It was $ 29,00 less than on the mountain. They also had 2 for 1 passes for A-Basin at the time, but no discount for Breckenridge and Keystone.

You can also pick up a Colorado Gold C book for about $10. It has coupons to A Basin and Copper Mtn
You can ski for as litte as $43 day

Would appreciate any information on ski pass discounts usable at Telluride. We are skiing in mid-March and would love to catch a break on passes. Flying into Montrose so it would be great to find a place in Montrose or online to purchase passes. Thanks!
