$1/day car rentals for trips to Florida
Posted by: John Rambow, Wednesday, Oct 29, 2008, 1:25 PM

Looks like Thrifty needs help getting enough rental cars down to Florida, where its fleet will soon be needed to transport throngs of Thanksgiving celebrants and beach-goers. To get this great migration done, they're offering a rental fee for mid-size cars of just $1 a day. You can pick up a car in one of 14 cities, including Chicago, NYC, Columbus, and Cincinnnati, but you have to drop it off in Florida—the allowed locations there include Miami, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale.

If you do want to take advantage and get out of town, better act fast: the special prices end on November 9th. [Thanks, Justin and Brad!]

I just tried to make a reservation for the $1-a-day offer and the website doesn't show a Promotion Code so it wouldn't take my reservation. I called Thrifty's 800 number and they politely told me they couldn't book this deal without a Promotion Code....round-and-round, etc.

Very frustrating!! What do I do?
