The editors at IgoUgo, the online travel community with roughly half-a-million members, have come up with a list of the Top 10 Favorite Mysterious Places.
Destinations include the most infamous jail in Melbourne, Australia, Old Melbourne Gaol, where they recommend "the collection of death masks and hanging beams of Ned Kelly and other outlaws." (Unfamiliar with Ned Kelly? Then you should read the novelized version of his life by Peter Carey.)
Other intriguing spots include: Dilmun Burial Complex in Sar, Bahrain, where graves have a honeycomb appearance; Fort Raleigh National Historic Site in Manteo, N.C. where an entire colony of settlers vanished; the Hill of Crosses in Siauliai, Lithuania, with distinctive grave markers; Centralia, Penn., where an underground mine fire has been burning for more than 45 years—with above ground signs of trouble down below.

one of the most creepiest places is Waverly Hills in Louisville, Ky. It has been featured on many television shows and was even on sci-fi on Halloween last year

I guess I am old fashioned, the the Jack the Ripper tour in London was my favorite.
The do it at dusk, the area's are still creepy and you end up at pub that was operating when the ripper killed. One of the ladies visited there often, may have met Jack there!
