Tour operator 2Afrika has added a new Kenyan tour in honor of President-Elect Barack Obama.
The just-announced Presidential Heritage Safari is a 10-night trip to Kenya, including visits to Mt. Kenya National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park, and the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The itinerary calls for two nights in Kisumu, on the shores of Lake Victoria, which is near the town of Kogelo. Obama's father was born in Kogelo, and Obama's step-grandmother still resides there. Residents of Kogelo celebrated after Obama's win was announced Tuesday night.
The safari costs $2,999 per person, plus about $295 in taxes and an additional fuel surcharge. Departures are in April and May of 2009. 2Afrika's trips dive deep into Kenya's parks and wildlife—and now you can learn a little bit about our new president's heritage.
Just one of the ways travel and politics overlap…
Watch a one-minute video of the celebrations in Kenya.
And Kenya declared a national holiday.

Way to go,Ken! Great idea. We're so glad that Kenya has had the chance to be proud! Had Obama not won, we'd all have been too depressed to travel...
It was so great to see the Kenyans celebrate, dance, and take a Holiday for this glorious occasion.

I know that we talked briefly about this. I am so happy that Obama won. I left Wisconsin and went to Florida to volunteer there.
It was great seeing the pride of the Kenyan clan and
friends.
The trip to Kenya a couple of years ago though your agency has been the highlight on my many travels. I always recommend 2 Africa for anyone remotely considering the travel. Most people do not understand what a great trip you can provide for relatively little dollars. Keep up the great work!
Hope many, many more enjoy your great planning and the continent of Africa.
