Save/Share465 TSA officers have been fired for theft since early 2003, reports the New York Times. This year alone, the agency paid out $1 million in claims for missing possessions or damaged bags, says the Economist's Gulliver blog.

Yes, stuff has been missing from my luggage and my TSA certified lock was jammed. In another instance a different TSA certified lock was never placed back on the suitcase.
I tried to complain but their forms are so extensive and intricate and they require the boarding passes (which I had already discarded) that I gave up. Kudos to those people that have completed their forms and together got $1 million back from TSA. Jaime

We had our cell phone charger removed from checked baggage and failed to receive compensation from TSA or AA!! $35.00 to replace

Another example of a wonderful, efficient, cost effective program brought to you by the Bush Administration..... Not only do they fail to catch things like knives and box cutters, they steal from innocent travellers, confiscate innocuous items like suntan lotion, and generally cause delays and hassles for all. And of course they do nothing to enhance security of air travel. There are many ways around their silly screening procedures. The Shrub would've done better to try to get at the root of the terrorists hate for America, instead of making the traveler suffer. The Terrorists, in effect have accomplished their goal of making Americans suffer the consequences.
