During the weeks leading up to Christmas, in every shopping mall in every town, parents line up with their fidgety kids for an adorable photo of them on Santa's lap. Only it doesn't always work out that way. And hundreds of readers of the Chicago Tribune submitted the photographic proof.
Two of the newspaper's editors, Denise Joyce and Nancy Watkins, collected and captioned 250 of the most astounding shots of Santa poses gone awry and published them in the recently released book Scared of Santa: Scenes of Terror in Toyland ($10).

I found this article sad not "ha, ha, ha". Sure there are many pictures of this type that parents have but seeing them doesn't put me in a festive mood. I find laughing at other people's fear or ridiculing them not amusing.

Oh get over it.......I have a similar pic of my self and then my son at about two years. Didn't traumatize us one bit in retrospect. I still share and laugh at those photos. To the folks who can't get a kick out of this, you need to lighten up and learn how to have fun. Life is far too short.

I think that the expressions on the santas are probably more funny than the kids. Thanks for the laugh.

this was hysterical. I agree that the Santas are as funny as the kids. note to self: no matter how good the job may seem, never repeat never apply for that Santa gig at the mall in my golden years.
