Hotels: Orbitz's biggest sale ever
Posted by: Budget Travel, Wednesday, Mar 25, 2009, 9:20 AM

Believe it or not, Orbitz has improved on the concept of languishing on a beach at a five-star resort—the website has made it cheaper to do. With its Biggest Hotel Sale Ever, customers who book through May 31st just might be able to trade the shadow of economic doom for the shade of a poolside umbrella.

If the beach isn't your thing, not to worry: Stay at the Standard Hotel in downtown Los Angeles for a 20 percent discount and sip a drink by their fire-spewing fountain, or gamble away your economic woes at the Andalucía Plaza in Marbella while staying for just over $100 a night. The discounts are huge and worldwide.

Bonus: Visit one of 11 US cities such as Phoenix or Boston and you'll receive a $50 dining gift card.
