Video Quest: You can swim where Jason Mraz filmed his hit video
Posted by: Sean O'Neill, Thursday, Apr 16, 2009, 10:23 AM

It's been nearly a year since Jason Mraz released his mellow, hippie tune "I'm Yours." The song earned him Grammy finalist nods for song of the year and best male pop vocal performance, and it's still near the top of the Billboard singles charts.

The music video for the song is a traveler's dream come true.

In it, Mraz hops a jet and heads to an unnamed, tropical destination where he jumps into a swimming hole by a gorgeous waterfall and admires pineapple trees and coffee plantations from the back of a pickup truck.

So where was this video shot? And can we visit the same spots?

It turns out the video was mostly filmed on the Hawaiian islands of Kauai and Oahu. The most eye-catching scene was filmed at the Maunawili Waterfall in Honolulu, where Mraz and his friends plunged into the natural pool below. No special effects or stunt doubles were used.

You, too, can safely dive off the cliffs along the Maunawili Trail, fall two stories, and dive into a 10-foot deep swimming hole. The 10-mile-long Maunawili Trail passes over part of the Koolau Mountains but it only has a few steep sections.

For the lowdown on Hawaii's hiking trails, Na AJa Hele, which manages trails within the State Forest Reserve, runs a one-stop website (www.hawaiitrails.org. You'll find descriptions, difficulty-ratings, and length info on various trails. Another great resource is Stuart Bali's The Hiker's Guide to the Hawaii Islands.

Madonna's new video for her song "Miles Away" (re-mixed from a previous version) is a nonstop ode to international travel (she doesn't even appear in it…you simply see airplanes, boarding tickets, airport terminals, Google Earth fast-forwards, etc.…)
