I saw the Elgin marbles at the British Museum last April. I don't understand the fuss because other than being small part of the Parthenon, they aren't that extraordinary...there is nothing really special about these marbles other than the controversy. I don't think the Parthenon is less a marvel without it.
To Broome, apparently, these marbles cannot be re-attached to the Parthenon (according to experts), so don't expect it even if the British Government gives it back to Greece.
