We're adding brand-new pages on Paris and need your help to build them.

Our stories and blog posts regularly report on great finds, including the heavenly macaroons at Ladurée, the 12-table restaurant Supernature, popular for its Sunday brunch, and the Hôtel du Séjour Beaubourg, which is by the Marais and has colorful rooms from $99.

Now we want to hear from you! Share your favorite Paris restaurants and hotels by posting a comment below. Keep in mind that we're most interested in affordable places that have some sense of personality or style—and the more details, the better.

Great (cozy/tiny) studio on Rue Frederic Sauton. Good price. Dead center of Paris. Directly across the Seine from Notre Dame. Wonderful. Write Helen for info: helenw@storm.ca

Our last Paris Stay was in the Latin Quarter. WE chose the Hotel Abbatial Saint Germain. Our room was newly renovated and had an amazing view of the Pantheon. It is just around the corner from Notre Dame and totally accessible to the rest of Paris by Metro or on foot. It was a great value.

I stayed once in the Mercure Opera Garnier in Paris and thought this was a very comfortable hotel, great service and a good breakfast. Nicely located to go sightseeing!

I cannot recommend more the restaurant Soprano. I ate there two nights in a row on my honeymoon. Small, cozy, and authentic (the owner, who was very nice, is from Sicily). It faces onto a little square with other restaurants and where a young couple was spinning fire one of the nights we were there. The gnocchi with saffron and shrimp was to die for. I long for the day when I return to Paris, not just a little for this place. It's a bit west of Place des Vosges/northeast of Notre Dame, very conveniently located. 5 Rue Caron.

Hotel La Sanguine on Rue de Sureine is a lovely little hotel and family run. It has small rooms and no elevator but it is family run and they are terrific. 1 block from the Madeleine.

I stayed the first week in July at Hotel Muguet. It was my second time staying there with my first in 2004. Again it did not disappoint. It is very comfortable and in a great neighborhood--a few blocks from Rue Cler. Some of the rooms have views with the top of the Eiffel Tower but better to walk to it each day/night. I thought the price was pretty affordable--106 Euro for a room with a double bed and bathroom and A/C. Now, I have to mention that the bathroom is VERY small but recently renovated beautifully and fully functional. I didn't mind as long as the bed was comfortable (YES) and the A/C was cold (YES). Plus, there are other room options with bigger spaces. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is close to Metro and museums. Enjoy!

We are looking for a small apartment in the Latin Quarter to rent for a few months. Any ideas?

We stayed at the Opera de Noailles in the Opera district and loved it. It's a great location. It's part of the Golden Tulip chain. The address is 9, Rue de la Michodiere www.hoteldenoailles.com. While waiting for the sun to go down and the lights to come on at Tour Eiffel, we had dinner at a neat sidewalk place - Castel Cafe on Av de Suffren.

Just off rue Montorgueil in the 2nd Arr. you will find a short pedestrian street, rue Marie Stuart. Look for a small restaurant called Mon Ange. We rent an apartment right across the street and last December we found this place. Quite intimate, friendly and great food. Go. Enjoy real Paris.

We've stayed at the Hotel D'Albion three times. Located at 15 Rue de Penthievre, we can walk to almost everything we want to see. Just a few blocks from the Champs-Elyesse. The service has been great; they've gone above and beyond for us.

It would be helpful if you told us the pricing of the hotels; while I realize that may change, it gives a perspective. Thank you.

Great Thai restaurant in the 5th District (Latin District): Chieng-Mai: 12 Rue Frederice Sauton, 75005 Paris METRO: Maubert-Mutualite
Great food! The Tham Yum soup was great as was the Chicken with Basil. It was comfortable, clean and again...did I say great food and service?!

Le Bosquet restaurant, 46, avenue Bosquet in the 7th - the food is good, the atmosphere better, the serving staff skilled and attentive. Huge portions of choucroute garni; reasonable prices, indoor dining or outdoors under the huge trees that line the avenue. A local favorite and a great place to absorb Paris. Five minutes from rue Cler, 10 from the Champs du Mars and the Eiffel Tower. Have dinner and then stroll over to see the light show.

My favorite hotel in Paris is DUQUESNE EIFFEL. Ask for Superior room with view of Eiffel Tower.
Great location on Left Bank.

We love 2 restaurants in Paris-

The first is Le Corner, 68 avenue Kleber, 75016 Paris, tel 01 47 27 72 64, lecornercafe2@wanadoo.fr

We were there earlier this month, having rack of lamb, steak and fries, ratatouille, escargot… My daughter said it was the best rack of lamb she ever had. Besides, the fabulous food, the staff was very accommodating – we had language issues because they didn’t know what a “side” of ratatouille meant, but together we figured it out. The location is great – in between the Tracadero and Arch de Triumph. I highly recommend it.

The second is our favorite, Pizza Pino, 33 Avenue Champs Elysées, 75008 Paris, tel 01 56 59 13 30.

We’ve eaten there many, many times on our visits to Paris. Their pastas, pizzas, salads, desserts… are some of the best we’ve ever had. Everything is fresh and they’re located right in the heart of the Champs Elysees. Their food is great and the prices are extremely reasonable. We end up eating there several times on each trip to Paris.

We love the open market and panini and crepe shops along the La Rue Mouffetard.

My wife and I stayed at Les Trois Poussins in Montmartre at 15 Rue Clauzel. We found the hotel to be quite homely and lovely. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room was quiet and clean, the staff helpful and friendly. The location is perfect: just around the corner from the No Stress Cafe; there are several restaurants just down the street. There are a wide variety of shops of all types (clothes, fruits, cheeses, etc.) nearby; there is also a marvelous boulangerie just around the corner at Rue des Martyrs and Rue Manuel (try the beignets, you won't be sorry!). The hotel has breakfast on offer for 10 euro per person, but we never woke up early enough to take advantage. We greatly enjoyed our stay and will stay there again when we are able to return to Paris.

Where to stay and where to eat in Paris ? If you are looking for best value on a tight budget, we have found that you have to go off the beaten path. Last week, we discovered the delightful and very Parisian Café Noir, located on the rue Saint Blaise, a narrow cobble-stone street that winds its way up to the Charonne Village in the 20th arrondissement. The only reason we were lucky enough to find this place is that we were also staying “off the beaten track” in a real Parisian apartment that we found on website called PariSharing. The site not only offers authentic apartments (mostly from Parisians who leave on vacation) but also restaurant recommendations geared to adventuresome people on tight budgets. You can read more about the Café Noir (and watch a video) here: http://avooparis.ning.com/forum/topics/cafe-noir

We stay at a super little 3* hotel on Rue Daulphine
Hotel St Germaine on Rue Daulphine

We like Allard near the hotel BUT the real speciality is their whole duck in olives a once in a lifetime must.

We are eclectic eaters and the best unreviewed restaurant we have ever eaten at is la Locanda on Rue Dragon. Superb steak with shaved truffels.

Restaurant Recommendations-

La Charlotte de l'Isle-
24 rue St Louis en L'Ile
Tiny cafe with the best hot chocolate ever- tastes like a chocolate bar melted into a cup, cut the sweetness with a delicious lemon tart!

Le Relais de Venise-
271 Boulevard Pereire, Porte-Maillot
Call it cheesy or a chain or whatever you like- it's crazy delicious.
Steak and fries only. Chock full of french people, with a line out the door every night, don't let anyone tell you they're only doing french fries for us Americans!

I highly recommend the bar L'Echelle de Jacob on rue Jacob in the 6th arrondisement. The two young owners are very hospitable and accommodating. The patrons are very friendly and I had many interesting conversations there with Parisians. I tried to use my French but most wanted to try their English! The bar also has a piano and there are often sing-alongs in French and English. Nice mixed drinks as well. Bring your good spirits and voice.

Hotel San jacques near Notre Dame is quaint and a good place to stay. We would choose this place first.

We just returned from Paris and stayed for the second time at the Hotel Du Louvre. The location is ideal, the windows on one side face the Louvre. The service was excellent. Great shopping close and many wonderful restaurants within easy walking distance.

We stayed at the Hotel Europe Saint Severin in the 5th Arr. in November. Small but modern bathroom, friendly service, small balcony overlooking Blvd St. Michel and the side street we were on. Lots of restaurants nearby, with 2 or 3 metro stops within a block. Literally just around the corner from Notre Dame, which was my favorite sight in Paris, especially at night. We paid about $150 (US) per night Thanksgiving week.

Of all our trips to Paris, we best remember a special meal, in a special place, and served by very special staff.

We had spent an hour or more on the enjoying the rooftop view at the Samartine Department store.
Don't miss it and go early in your stay in Paris. It gives you outstanding views and will help you navigate the city.

We ran into friends from San Diego and spent so much time it was too late for lunch. So, we poked around the store for an hour. Now starving we decided to try the lunchroom but it was closed. The much more expensive restaurant was closing about three o'clock also, plus it was much too expensive for budget travelers.

Well, finally the maitre d' just insisted we come in. Graciously saying they were just closing until the dinner hour, (I think!,) so we went in thinking we would split a desert or something. There were only two tables with lingering diners and us. I swear they gave us the very best table in the house. My view in a huge mirror was of the Eiffel Tower, right next to me was the River and bridges and beyond that I was looking right at Notre Dame. My husband had the opposite view.

Our waitress could not have done enough for us. When I asked if she had small children to get home to care for, the answer was yes but please take your time. We splurged on one glass of wine to share and ordered the cheapest thing on the menu. She arrived with two glasses and later poured ' the "last of the bottle" for us. Then brought a complementary dessert. It was just perfect.

We are very much budget travelers, but we have been treated just as kindly in many countries.

My next 'essay' will be about the fantastic meal in Meune-le Sur, Where the Musketeers ate.

Le Refuge des Fondues

I will never forget the little hole in the wall fondue haunt we stumbled across wandering around Paris. We had been roaming Montmartre, the maze of hilly, winding streets bowing to Sacré Coeur, the Roman Catholic Basilica towering atop the city from Paris’ highest point. Always on the lookout for interesting foods, we happened upon a little awning for Le Refuge des Fondues. It wasn’t even open for the evening yet, but as sincere fans of fondue, we decided that it was the dining spot we’d return to that night. And a delectable choice indeed. We were not the only ones with the same idea; it was packed. The whole place must have been 12 feet wide. There was a row of benches, a row of tables all end to end, a row of chairs, and the same thing on the other side of an aisle maybe 3 feet wide. Guests had to climb on a chair and step over the table to get to the benches. Close quarters with fellow diners; we sat next to a local group and some Swedish travelers. Close quarters with the waitstaff too, as they’d hustle down the aisle with simmering pots of cheese or oil chanting, “Chaud, chaud” (hot, hot). It was probably a fire marshall’s nightmare, but it made the experience even better. And the fondue was divine. But the funniest tidbit? They serve the alcoholic beverages in glass baby bottles!

Disclaimer: It has been a number of years since we found Le Refuge de Fondues, but the restaurant’s address is online and there’s even a recent YouTube video, so it looks like it’s still going strong. It’ll definitely be at the top of my list when I have the pleasure of being back in Paris.

Le Refuge des Fondues
17 Rue des Trois-Freres

Metro: Abbesses

Our favorite hotel is Hotel de la Porte Doree, hoteldelaportedoree.com the prices range between 80Euros to 140Euros. The hotel is like being home in Paris. The rooms are beautiful and the bedding amazing. The hotel serves a organic breakfats that is well worth the 9Euros. We had such a wonderful stay and the airconditioner is nice to come home to and the free wifi is great to have in all of the rooms. The hotel is not in central Paris but the area is so beautiful with the wods and the big lake that is nice to take a jog around or take the kids for a walk after a long day. The metro is at the foot of the hotel and it takes you to the city center in ten min. We would love to go back to this hotel.

My favorite place to stay in Paris is not a hotel but for me is a lot better.

http://www.paris-apartment-rent.com/

Is a renting agency with lots os furnished apartments specially in the Montmartre Area (they also have apartments in other areas of Paris). I was here in Paris for two weeks and I was not very happy about the hotel where I was staying, so I decided to search for different option. Happily I found this agency and even decided to stay living in Paris in one of their apartments.

In the Montmartre area you will also find plenty of good restaurants. I would recommend "Coquelicot" for your breakfast and the italian restaurant "Il Pomodoro"

In mid June '09, we spent 4 nights at the Hotel Roosevelt, off the Champs d'Elysses, a short 2 block walk to metro and shops. It's a small, boutique hotel, exquisite wood-paneled rooms, excellent conceierge service and delightful full-service breakfast. Normally a rack rate of $400 Euros, I found this by accident thru a promotional email. We booked it at $160 Euros and it included a daily brkfast for two, that normally is an additional charge of $35 Euro. The four night stay totalled about $825 in $US.

My favorite hotel in Paris is the Mercure. It is located next to the Hilton and just 1 1/2 blocks from the Effiel Tower. Great cafe's and a little grocery vary close for picking up good wine at a little price.
