Too early to think about skiing? Perhaps. But planning ahead truly gives you the best chance at doing a ski trip right.

Skiing is often thought of as an expensive sport, but it doesn't have to be that way. Last winter, for instance, many resorts offered phenomenal deals to attract skiers and boarders out to the slopes in what was a tough, recession-dampened season. This winter may very well shape up the same way.

How do you find the best ski trip deals?

How can you separate a good deal from a gimmick?

What resorts are right for big groups, or couples, or families, or party-goers?

How can you pay less for everything from lift tickets, to condos, to gear rentals, to après-ski cocktails?

What does ski-resort lingo such as "ski-in, ski-out" really mean?

How can kids ski, and in some cases even fly, for free?

Whether you're a novice still hesitant on the bunny slopes or you live for the black diamonds, whether you're a telemarker or a knuckle-dragger, whether you prefer deep powder or smoothly groomed cruising runs, fire away all of your ski-related questions.

We'll do our best to answer them and to supply our most sensible tips and suggestions in an upcoming issue of Budget Travel.

Dear Brad: On September 2 my wife fell and broke her leg in Heathrow Airport. The hospital bill for her accident is $25,000. She is 70. Our British friends are telling us that everyone 70 or older, regardless of citizenship, is entitled to free hospital and health care in England. Is this true? (I find it hard to believe.) We are Americans. Could you please reply quickly since we need to pay the bill promptly. Thanks. Sincerely, Bill Cox

How do you find the best ski trip deals to breckenridge, colorado?

Last winter my wife and I took a trip to argentina arranged by a south american travel company , amazing destinations. Halfway thru we were left stranded at the el calafate patagonian airport. The second half of the trip was never paid for by the travel company to the local travel companies. I found a way to pay for the rest of the trip which we had to abort due to lack of extra funds we did not bring in case of an emergency and in order to meet up with our return flight back to the states. Many months of emails from us and american express did not get any apology or financial reimbursement despite the company admitting it was their error. In the future how can I avoid such a situation without doing all the arrangements myself? My travel insurance did not cover the travel company's failure.

I visited Whistler last year. With the Winter Olympics there this year, would it be worth it to go back this year or perhaps look into someplace less crowded with more slope time? I've heard good things about Utah as an option.

Dear Trip Coach,
About five of us (aged in the late twenties and thirties) are extremely interested in snowboarding in Colorado this year (we were thinking Vail or Aspen) for a long weekend. We are based in Chicago and part of the group even suggested driving. Could you give us any advice, opinions, or suggestions regarding getting a good deal on lodging and lift tickets and airline tickets. Price is top priority but we're not really looking to rough it out in a sleazy motel or anything :)
Thanks in advance! :)

Dear Trip Coach,
I am planning my very first ski trip and we decided to try Boyne Mountain in Michigan. Is this a good choice? I have been looking at flights and they are very expensive. Any suggestions?
Many Thanks!

Dear Trip Coach,

We live in Europe and our family is interested in skiing the week after Christmas (peak time I know). Any suggestions of reasonable places to go that would be good for a family with young children (ages 5 and 2)? We would like a location with a variety of winter activities since our 2 year old will be too young to ski.

Thank you!

I'm looking for the name of a bar in Creste Butte, Colorado. It has an upstair outside deck and sit facing the sun as it goes down. It has a slogan which I'm may not be correctly stating and says "where the sun sets on shady people. If you know, give me more info.

Thanks,
Doug

Dear Trip Coach,

I used to ski every weekend while living near Lake Tahoe, but now I haven't been in 4 years! My husband and I live in Nashville, TN, and would love advice about where we can go to get a great value. We want to stay somewhere we can ski in/ski out and be walking distance to restaurants, etc. What mountains would you recommend?

Is there any way to find cheap airfare to Jackson Hole in the winter?

How does skiing in South America compare to Europe and North America? I'm curious about everything: the quality of the skiing, the quality of the facilities, how crowded the slopes are and when, and--of course--the total cost for someone from the U.S.

I live in New York, and my roommates and I are trying to figure out an affordable way to get away for a long weekend of skiing this winter. I love skiing out west, but am worried that will be too expensive for our budgets. Are there any places on the east coast that would be cheaper that would let us get the same quality of skiing as out west? And if so, when is the most reliable time of year to try and ski on the east coast? Or should we just head out west?

My husband and I would like to take a ski vacation to Colorado, we met there 47 years ago. We haven't been back there for 30 years. Friends of ours told us that a lot of hotels there are experiencing bedbugs. They told us to be very careful so we don't bring them home with us, they suggested a few things, one of called an allersac travel sheet the other was ecobug spray. Do you suggest these types of items and have you heard of bedbugs causing problems in Colorado resorts. I know we have a problem where I live.

How do you find the best flights to Reno from Ohio? We can't find any non-stop flights around us. We're looking for a low-cost, minimal stop flight.

Trip Coach: We are trying to plan a trip to Sesame Place in PA. and Washington D.C for five kids ages(2-4-8-9-11)and four adults. We have two airports to fly out from Gulfport Regional in Gulfport,MS and Msy in New Orleans LA. Our problems is tha we don't know whether to buy round trip tickets for PA or one way, then fly back from DC. We also have to bring two car seats and a stroller on the plane, and rent two cars once we arrive. We plan on staying three days in Pa and the balance three days in DC. Our trip will include places of interest for both PA and DC. Need your advice.

I'd love to find a moderately priced ski package that includes airfare, hotel/condo, ski rentals, and lift tickets from Tallahassee, FL, Jacksonville, FL, or Atlanta, GA. My daughter is in the fifth grade and can ski free at some places.

Trip Coach

In April, I flew to Mallorca to meet my husband, and when I landed in Madrid, the agents at the Air Europa would not accept my reservation because my passport had my maiden name on it. (I had it changed, but the Government doesn't issue a new passport - they simply make a notation on the back page.) Not being able to communicate well, I was forced to purchase an additional ticket, so that it was printed with my maiden name. Air Europa has been less than helpful getting this resolved. Help!!
