Posted by: Sean O'Neill, Wednesday, Sep 30, 2009, 2:40 PM

Today, a fare sale for late fall and winter was launched by Southwest. Not included are dates during, and around, the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's holidays.

Tickets to some destinations would start at $118 roundtrip.

Travel from Oct. 13 through Feb. 11 on most weekdays.

Details at Southwest.com.

Southwest has been expanding in Denver, which has gotten new nonstop service to Los Angeles (LAX airport), San Jose, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Raleigh/Durham, and San Antonio. Another lucky city is Manchester, N.H., which has gained nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale. Yet another lucky city is Jacksonville, Fla., which has won nonstop service to Las Vegas.

I am unable to get to Southwest special fares. Message comes up that there is an error in the url. I am interested in flying from Cleveland, OH or Akron- Canton to Phoenix on Nov. 8 and returning Nov 15th. What are your best fares?

Where in Iowa, or near Iowa, does Southwest serve?

Mayle is correct-Southwest cannot be reached by the link you've provided.

I regret the broken link. I swear it was working before!

SW site comes up now.

Save your excitement: these are the same ol' Southwest fares available (if you hit a lucky day/flight combination) over the past five months. Eighty percent of all flights in and out of Albuquerque are Southwest and there is very little variation in their fares over time. Southwest is ONLY wonderful to have if you have other choices. Combined with that and the fact that Southwest is limited to the US, all the lip-smacking fares we see in other markets are never available to us.
I will grant that Southwest keeps fares down overall (I hear), but they have certainly pre-empted any other service we might have. Oh, to have real choices. Sigh.
