Nearly 150 deals and discounts throughout New York City were announced today, running for the next few weeks. Attractions, museums, theater shows, restaurants, shops, and tours are discounted.
Examples: Get 15 percent off select tickets to STOMP or Chicago the Musical, for instance. Or get two-for-one admission at the Gotham Comedy Club or the Museum of Jewish Heritage.
Dubbed "NYC: The Real Deal Fall," you'll find the deets at nycgo.com/realdealfall.
The deals are courtesy of NYC & Company, the City's marketing, tourism and partnership organization. It's the first time the organization has run a savings program in the fall.

I really shouldn't share this secret, but if you're looking for a place to stay that you will use basically just to sleep, the best deal I've ever found is booking a room at one of the Mahattan YMCAs. Clean, cheap (less than $100.00 a night), use of the exercise facilities during your stay, and best of all, no hotel tax!

thanks for the tip about the YMCA's. I love NY and would spend a long weekend 3-4 times each year but it's the hotel prices that prevent that.
I'll try the YMCA next trip!

You're welcome! Another tip is booking a room directly off their website instead of a 3rd party site. I've heard stories of reservation problems when booking sites are used, but I've never had a problem when I've booked directly thru the WMCA's website wmcanyc.org
